Proximity sensor wakes the cube. It shows your last used time. Dial to adjust. Press to start. Hourglass runs. It remembers everything.

No memory yet โ€” shows 00:00. LED ring glows softly to signal "ready". Dial on left to set your time. Nothing else to do.
Sensor: IR proximity detects hand within ~3cm. Display wakes in under 0.2 seconds. Battery-efficient โ€” sensor uses under 0.5mA standby.

Each click of the dial = 1 minute. Clockwise adds time, anticlockwise removes it. Ring fills proportionally to show the selected duration. Display updates live.
Feel: Tactile notch per minute (like a watch crown). After 2 seconds of no movement, selection is confirmed silently โ€” no button press needed to confirm time.

The moment Start is pressed, the digital clock disappears completely. The hourglass takes over. No numbers. No countdown stress. Just sand flowing down at the pace of your chosen time.
Why this matters: Watching a countdown (14:32โ€ฆ 14:31โ€ฆ) triggers anxiety. The hourglass shows progress without pressure โ€” you see roughly how much is left, not exactly. This is intentional.

All sand in the bottom half. LED ring completes its full arc and pulses green. Haptic vibrates once. XP awarded. After exactly 2 minutes, the cube goes to sleep automatically.
Sleep behaviour: Display dims slowly over 10 seconds, then off. Sensor remains active at ultra-low power to detect next pickup.

Cube wakes up and immediately shows your last used time โ€” no dialling needed if you want the same session. Just press Start. If you want a different time, dial to change it first.
Memory logic: Stores last confirmed start time in flash memory. Persists through sleep, battery swap, and power cycles. If you used 20 min last time, it shows 20:00 on every subsequent pickup until you change it.
